Release 2.7 of DataDirect Connect for ADO provides new support for:
With this latest release of Connect for ADO, release 2.6 for Windows 95/98/2000/NT, DataDirect Technologies extends its commitment to providing world-class ADO/OLE DB technology that supports the latest OLE DB specification. This release also includes numerous new features that allow robust and performance-oriented applications to be built and deployed.
All of the ADO providers have been refined for optimal performance and functionality, giving users increased data access speeds.
The Sybase ASE provider connects to the database via the Tabular Data Stream (TDS) protocol, greatly improving performance while simplifying installation and maintanance. New Sybase ASE version 12.5 support includes support for Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC), Sybase extended new limits (XNL) and Unicode through unichar types.
Numerous XML enhancements have been included in this release. W3C XML Schema support has been added to the already long list of supported XML types that includes IE5 Data Islands, ADO persisted XML and XML with associated schemas. Support for updates have been added including file locking capabilities and defer all updates until file close for performance
The included DataDirect Integrator supports SQL statements and business view catalogs against relational and non-relational data, including XML data stores and database stored procedures. Developers can use SQL 92 syntax against raw XML files without the need to warehouse the data in a relational database. Users can also wrap SQL grammar around database stored procedure calls, allowing them to call the stored procedure and manipulate the result set in one statement. Coupled with the creation of business views, this greatly reduces the complexity of data access to the end user.
