New or Updated Drivers:
New Features in All 3.5 ADO.NET Data Providers
Expanded Entity Framework (EF 4.0 and 1.0) Support - This release extends support for the Microsoft Entity Framework (EF 4.0 and 1.0) in the Progress DataDirect Connect for ADO.NET providers beyond Oracle to include the Sybase and DB2 (iSeries) databases. By leveraging the same 100% managed code architecture as the Connect for ADO.NET Oracle provider, there is absolutely no need to deploy the Sybase or DB2 client libraries with Entity Framework (EF 4.0 and 1.0) applications. In addition, this architecture delivers the best possible runtime performance to all Entity Framework (EF 4.0 and 1.0) applications.
Connection Pooling Performance Enhancements - This release offers performance improvements to the connection pooling available with all Connect for ADO.NET providers. These improvements, combined with additional tuning options, delivers customers even better application performance and tunability when using this latest release of the Connect for ADO.NET providers.
Increased Breadth of Support - Progress DataDirect continues to be a leader in both the breadth and depth coverage of databases, database features, and application platforms. This release expands this coverage even further by including support for Visual Studio 2010, the .NET 4.0 runtime, and version 5.0 of the Enterprise Library (including DAAB – the Data Access Application Block and LAB – the Logging Application Block).
